Covid-19 has forced all of us to rethink where and how we work. Global and local companies alike have implemented work-from-home policies while the federal government and pharmaceutical industry search for a solution. Technologies like Zoom and Slack have helped people adapt to their new working environments.
That said, we’re seeing an uptick in interest from businesses and teams who want to meet in person, so long as they’re appropriately socially distanced. This gives us a chance to talk about the different types of meeting spaces we offer to both members and non-members.
When I write “meeting space,” I’m referring to our conference rooms. Groover Labs has seven conference rooms. We also have classrooms and an event venue, which we will discuss in different posts.
At Groover Labs we ask everyone to wear a mask while in the lobby and public areas. Once inside a conference room or workspace, mask are at the discretion of the attendees.
Of the seven rooms we offer, there are three different types of rooms available:
(1) Boardroom
(2) Large conference rooms
(3) Small conference rooms
The first and most popular is the boardroom. Located at the west end of the hotseat area, the boardroom seats up to 12 people (pre-Covid-19) at the conference room table and another eight along the wall. The boardroom has a large 55-inch HDTV with an HDMI connection and streaming capability.
With a handcrafted white oak table, brilliant CMYK colors, and large street view windows, we envision the boardroom as a space where a young startup might present to potential investors. In fact, earlier this year, a Chicago venture capital firm used the boardroom to meet with several local startups. Other local organizations have used the room as an all day offsite location to plan the upcoming year. We only have one boardroom, so don’t hesitate if you’d like to reserve it.
In our coworking area we have four large conference rooms. The white oak tables in these rooms seat eight people, pre-Covid-19. They also have large HDTVs with HDMI connections and streaming capabilities. Each large conference room offers a different experience because of the unique architectural features of the building. The larger conference rooms toward the back of our coworking space are tailored for privacy. One of them has podcasting recording equipment just in case we find ourselves in a podcasting situation.
Last but certainly not least are our smaller conference rooms located at the back of the coworking area. Each room was designed to seat four people, pre-Covid-19. While not as large as the others, these rooms offer an intimacy among meeting participants. Both rooms have HDTV connections with HDMI and streaming options. We’ve used these rooms for a variety of meetings. As I type, the Nonprofit Chamber of Service is using it to host their annual conference.
