Have you been seeing laser cut projects in your Pinterest feed and wished you could do some of those projects but don’t know how and don’t have access to a laser cutter? This class is for you! The instructor will begin by giving an overview of the laser cutter, including types of operations and materials. From there, they will delve into the how-to of going from a file on a site like Thingiverse to a successful result by working through several examples downloaded from the web. Students will customize and complete a small project under the instructor’s guidance that they can take home. Lastly, students may get assistance downloading a trial version of the Lightburn software onto their own computers if they wish. Students who complete this class and become makerspace members will be able to use a Groover Labs laser cutter to complete projects of their own.
Groover Labs owns two large-format 100w CO2 laser cutters running Lightburn software. Students who join the Groover Labs makerspace can get a discount code for a Lightburn license.
