You may have noticed a new addition to the courtyard: a young maple tree. Last month, members of the Groover Labs team traveled to Tree Top Nursery in search of a tree to honor our co-founder Curt Gridley’s legacy and contribution to the local startup community.
Curt passed away in March. We received a large outpouring of support, and many of Curt’s and Tracy’s friends in Wichita and from around the country made donations in Curt’s name to Groover Labs. Tracy and the team felt that some of those proceeds should go toward purchasing a tree for the courtyard in his memory.
Those who knew Curt best, whether as friends or colleagues, knew he loved to work with maple, so what you’ll find in the southwest corner of the courtyard is an Autumn Blaze Maple.
The tree is one element of a larger buildout of the courtyard. In the coming months, we’ll share more about what we have planned for the area.
We spent a wonderful afternoon working together as a team searching for the best maple tree candidate to bring shade to the courtyard for our current and future members as they contemplate the next generation of transformative technologies.
