Meet Ryan DiBrito
Ryan DiBrito came to Groover Labs almost three years ago, moving here from Minneapolis, where he worked as a general partner in a venture capital firm focused on technology and innovation. His positive attitude and high energy have since become integral parts of our community. He’s also a CAMPFIRE mentor, where he advises on financing-related topics.
If you’re a Groover Labs member, then you know there’s no mistaking when Ryan enters the building. The staff carries an inside joke that we want to “take on the day like DiBrito!” He is swift, purposeful, and eager for the opportunities that lie ahead.
We talked with Ryan about his connections to the startup community, his experience with mentors, and why he thinks hubs like Groover Labs create value in their communities.
Read the interview below.
1. ) As a CAMPFIRE Mentor, what expertise do you offer those who attend? a.k.a. What is your connection with the startup community and/or entrepreneurship?
I had the opportunity to work in venture capital for 15 years and really experience how successful companies and teams are built. Entrepreneurship is a multi-faceted endeavor, and I admire the pursuit in all its forms.
2.) What's a common mistake you've noticed first-time founders make?
No real commonality, but when that setback may arise, it is a tremendous opportunity to learn and add precision to strategy and execution all around.
3. ) What's something you wish you knew before starting your professional career?
How you approach a task is just as important as the task itself - organization, communication, and being adaptable are universal.
4. Did you have any mentors in your life? If so, when did you realize you needed one, and why? What should someone look for in a mentor?
I do! I am grateful for the mentors that have positively impacted me by being consistent, authentic, and positive no matter what.
5. What makes the community at Groover Labs unique?
The opportunity that Groover Labs provides is amazing and the community the Groover team fosters is truly distinct.
